PostHeaderIcon First Word - "Hi"

Siahna's vocabulary understanding is growing but we've been waiting for her to form and say her first word.  This past week I saw that she would form her mouth in the movement of the word "Hi" so we've been working on it.  She has now put sound with that movement and can consistently say "Hi" when we ask her to.  Progress is being made.

PostHeaderIcon PreK Graduation

Case had preschool graduation yesterday.  It was super cute.  We have decided not to start KG next year but give him an extra year to learn and feel confident in himself.  So, we'll do this again next year, but it was still fun.
Me & Siahna before leaving the house.
Trying to get a picture with both kids cooperating is nearly impossible.
 My boy...front and center.
This is what Siahna did during graduation.  On the floor, under the chairs.  At least she was quiet!

All the kids had to introduce themselves, say what they want to be when they grow up and what school they'll be at next year (Case will be in the Explorers program at his current preschool).
One kid wanted to be a crazy guy with lots of arms.  Makes me proud of my boy who wants to be a cooker.  He's a great helper in the kitchen and LOVES watching cooking shows with me.

PostHeaderIcon A New Watch

All I wanted for Mother's Day was a new watch.  Something simple, yet nice.  I found a few online and sent the links to Jeff so he knew what to look for.  He and Case went shopping one night when I took Siahna to music.  They came home and hid the present.  A couple nights later, I was putting Case to bed and walked over to turn on his lava lamp and there was the present.  I tell you what, they are really bad at hiding things.  Remember those jaw breakers?

Anyway, the day before Mother's Day I started cleaning out my jewelry boxes on top of my dresser.  They were collecting dust and I decided to go through stuff.  Low and behold I came across 4 watches!  Needless to say, none of them worked but they only needed a battery.  So, the nice watch that Case & Jeff got for me had to be returned because I already had what I asked for (x4)!

PostHeaderIcon Casey Lou

Case has been busy lately.  I'm actually looking forward to summer when there's nothing scheduled and we can just relax and not run from activity to activity.  He and Siahna are in a gymnastics class every week and this is his newest trick.

Case had an art show at preschool a couple weeks ago.  It was actually the best art show I've ever been to (not that I've been to a lot!).  You went from room to room and each room had a theme that all the kids in the school had done a project around.  There was Jack and the Bean Stalk, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan and lots of others.  The rooms were filled with art work and it took about 45 minutes to walk through each room.
This is the Peter Pan room - his shadow is the bottom one.  Kind of looks like him!
This is Case on a walk one day.  We had many stares and laughs on our walk, but he just had to take his baby out.
Last week, Case had a Letterland parade at preschool.  He had to dress up as one of the letters and characters that they had studied.  He was zig-zag Zebra.

PostHeaderIcon Update on Little Lou

It is hard to believe that one month from today, we will have a 2 year old!  Where has time gone?  The good news is that in the last week she has started walking more and more so we are sure we will have a walker by her birthday.  We are super excited for her and she is so pleased with her skills.

We met with an OT (occupational therapist) today regarding Siahna.  Looks like that will be another therapy session added to our list.  But, she had some good suggestions for "uncovering another layer of Siahna" since no one can figure out what's going on with her.  All the time, I am amazed over and over at how God had his hand on us to lead me to stay home with her.  It really is the best thing for her and we get out often enough that she is still social and exposed to other kids (and sicknesses).

Siahna is very observant and picks up a lot of new skills on her own just by watching people.  She is one happy little girl - unless it is nap time - and she adores her brother.  She has also learned how to ride her firetruck and loves scooting around the house on that.

She's not talking yet (although I'm pretty sure she can say "kitty") but she has learned how to say "please" in sign language and she says "give me" by opening and closing her hand.  So, usually everything is "give me, please."  Half the time we don't know what she wants, but she is adamant about saying "please."
