Well, my day started nice and early meeting 2 girlfriends and their little ones for a nice 2 mile walk around a lake. Then we had to get Starbucks to cool off and reward ourselves. Didn't have time to shower.
Came home and laid Case down for a nap while I made some phone calls and planned our Saturday anniversary celebration (more to follow on that). Case woke an hour later and we ate lunch and then headed off to LaQuinta to visit the uncle and cousins who are staying in town. Still didn't shower.
We swam for a couple hours and then came home. Collin dropped off the boys for me to babysit for a few hours. Made dinner, cleaned up and yes, you guessed it still no time to shower. After all the relatives left, Jeff and I moved a bunch of junk to the curb for the city to pick up in the morning. I haven't been that dirty and dusty in a long time. And yes, I'm sitting here now ready for bed and still haven't showered. I'm on summer vacation - give me a break!

Did You Know This?
1) Mexican food is my favorite - I like it spicy.
2) My dream vacation is to go to Italy.
3) I have been held up at gun point in Costa Rica.
4) My little boy has my hazel eyes.
5) I have loved my husband for about 14 years even though we've only been married 3.
6) I love Diet Dr. Pepper from a fountain.
7) I found out that I like Coca-Cola when I was pregnant.
8) Being pregnant and giving birth is my most amazing experience in life.
9) I like 'Hello Kitty'
10) All of my close girlfriends live 8 hours or more away from me.
11) I really enjoy Kickboxing classes.
12) I've taught at 3 different middle schools in my 10 years of teaching.
13) I like the show "Swingtown" even though Jeff shakes his head at me.
14) I love homemade Frappucino's
15) On my honeymoon I had to pee in a bottle b/c I was afraid of peeing in the ocean for fear of the fish getting me! And to top it off, we were in a 2 person boat bouncing around. Needless to say I did not get a lot in the actual bottle!
16) I, like my sister, was 21 before I had my first drink of alcohol. I was with Holly & Buddha in my parents backyard.
17) I am a germ freak. I disinfect Case's toys when his cousins leave!
18) I have been on a "Bullet" Train in Japan.
19) While taking a road trip to D.C. with my best friend we discovered there wasn't any film in the camera - I think we were practically to D.C. before we discovered all the pics we had taken weren't actually there!
20) Sunflowers are my favorite flower.
21) My husband sang to me at our wedding. But, now he hardly sings to me.
22) The best gift I have been given is my little boy.
23) I hope that one day there is a cure for MS.
24) I dread the day that my grandparents will pass away.
25) I worry about gas prices
26) Someday I want to adopt
27) I pray that Case will grow up loving Jesus.
28) I'm excited to climb a 14'er in a week - if my ankles will let me.
29) I hope that someday we'll be able to meet the little boy we sponsor through World Vision in South Africa.
30) I wish my brother lived closer.
31) I am proud of my husband losing weight.
32) I have a tattoo on my tooth

It's Official
It's that time of the year...going back to work. I got my "Welcome Back" letter in the mail yesterday from my principal. Yeah!!! It was filled with all the dates for parent/teacher conferences, inservice days, etc.
I always dread beginning a school year. I don't know the students. I don't know what to expect from them; who they are, how they behave, what their parents are like. I don't like setting up classroom expectations and all those fun "here's where you turn in your work; here's where you look for assignments" etc. It's no fun.
This will be my 10th year teaching and you'd think I'd be used to it by now. I probably never will be. This could be my last year teaching too - at least for awhile. Who knows. Maybe I'll be able to be a stay-at-home mommy next year. Maybe I'll miss teaching if I were to stop. Maybe I'll miss that first week of welcoming complete strangers into my classroom. It's possible.

Raising a Man
Case and I went to a make-up music class this morning. He's involved in Kindermusik and we missed a class while on vacation. So, it was a whole new group of kids. The class is for newborns-18months so I was surprised when we arrived to see a 3 or 4 year old there. This boys mom also had twins that were probably 9 months. She had her hands full to say the least. This older boy is the topic of my blog....even though he was 3 or 4 he talked like a baby. He threw himself on the ground when we put the instruments away and cried and cried. His baby brothers just sat and stared at him. I wondered to myself, (because I am a perfect mom), how does one raise such an immature 3 year old? The mom finally ended up leaving class early because the boy threw tantrum after tantrum. She never once scolded him - maybe she didn't want to do it in front of all the other moms - she never once told him to stop. How does a child turn out like that?
My thoughts on the drive home turned to my sweet little boy. I often worry about raising a Godly man in these times. Being a teacher, I know that kids are not like they used to be. Case is the sweetest little boy. He loves to give big, wet, slobbery kisses. He loves to be held. He puts his forehead on my forehead to give me a love. Sometimes I worry that he'll lose his sweet disposition and be a tantrum-throwing red head. But, then I'm reminded of the examples around him that he's exposed to everyday. His dad is just as sweet as my little boy. And loves to give "loves" just like his little boy does. His aunt Shiloh is gentle. His uncle Collin is patient. His cousins are learning how to share with him. His aunt Katie is a snuggler.
My point is, children learn by example. My little boy is surrounded by so many positive things and people, it can't help but rub off on him. Not to say he'll never throw a tantrum or be naughty, but I'm convinced that the examples and influences he sees now will shape him into the man he will be. And if he's like his daddy, he'll be a great man; hopefully greater.

2 Things to Ponder
I recently read this book called "Angelwalk." It's a fiction book back from the early '90's. The basis of the story is that an angel thinks that God may have dealt unfairly with Lucifer in kicking him out of heaven and wants to go to Earth and investigate himself and see if Lucifer is really as bad as everyone says he is. I read the book years and years ago, but this time two things really stood out to me:
1) Angels were around before humans, so why did God create humans? Were/Are the angels not enough company? Are they so different from humans that God desired more?
2) What if by some slim chance, Lucifer came to God and begged to be forgiven? Would God forgive him? And would the world change with a repentant Lucifer?
Any thoughts?

Giving in to Peer Pressure
Yes, I have finally given in. I too have become a blogger. First, I gave in and joined MySpace. Now I hardly ever look at it. Then, I joined Facebook. I do look at that. Now, I've become a blogger. My friends have all these interesting stories so I figure I have to have some too that I can share. I know my husband will just shake his head at me, but it's official - I'm a blogger.
