Today during my first class of the day, I noticed a kid looking at his lap for a long time. This is always an indication that there's a cell phone down there and they're not supposed to have them in class. So, I moved so that I could see a little better and yep, it was a phone. I walked over, held out my hand and he gave it to me. He then proceeded to put his head on the desk and "sleep." I told him to put his head up and participate in the activity we were doing. He then put his head "up" but it was on the back of his chair. Then I told him to put it up or I would send him to the office. His reply, "Do. I don't care." So I said, "Goodbye, there's the door." He left and slammed the door on his way out. I then started to call the office to tell them he was on his way and why when the kids in my class told me that our AP (Assistant Principal) was in the hall. So, I went out and told him about what happened, gave him the phone and he took the kid to the office for the rest of class.
At the end of my next class this kid shows up and says, "Give me my phone back." So polite. I explained to him that 1) If I had the phone I wouldn't give it to him until the end of the day, 2) That's really not how you ask for the phone back, and 3) the phone was with the AP already in the office. He then stormed out again slamming the door on his way. I heard later that he went to the office and demanded the secretary to give him his phone and was super rude to her and she had no idea what was even going on.
So, lunch came and I had some kids coming in to work during lunch. I walked down the hall after my last class to heat my lunch. I was gone for no more than 3 minutes and came back to find that my computer had shut down. Odd. I tried turning it back on and it wouldn't reboot. I looked at all the chords, saw that the power strip was on and couldn't figure it out. After about 5 minutes of other kids helping me, I finally realized that the power chord from the computer to the outlet was gone!!! How does that just disappear? I knew then that this same kid had come into my room and taken it. What a jerk!
I then ran up to the computer room and got a spare chord and plugged everything back in and got my computer running. During my class after lunch, the AP stopped by again and asked what had happened with my computer. I told him and we both said it had to have been that kid. He went and searched his locker and low and behold, found the power chord in his locker.
So, needless to say, this all transpired because of a silly little cell phone and the kid felt the need to get back at me by stealing my power chord. Can't wait to hear the results of this one!
