I don't know when kids normally learn that a word is broken into syllables, but Case has taught himself. About two weeks ago we were driving in the car and I noticed he was saying words and counting buttons on his DVD player as he said them and then he would say, "That's a 2 word. That's a 4 word." After observing him I saw he was doing syllables. So, we've taught him about the word syllable and now he can count on his fingers how many syllables a word has. I'm just sayin' he's a smart kid!

It's Official
Yes, I finally did it! I forked out the money for my half-marathon this week. Therefore, I'm registered and so I must do it now. May 15. I have five weeks left...yikes! Um, I can run downhill pretty well for a long distance! I tried to back out but the other teachers that I'm running with said we would crawl across the finish line together if that's what it took for all of us to finish. I can do this, right?

Progress
*Siahna finally popped out her first tooth Sunday (her 10 month birthday).
*She is now pushing herself onto her knees and rocking back and forth. Still no army crawling or movement on her knees but this is definitely progress!
*Our therapist has recommended that we take her to see a pediatric neurologist. This is just precautionary to rule out any neurological reasons for her delays. We are still seeing lots of progress in her and are hopeful that this is something she'll outgrow in the next year. However, if there is an underlying cause, we want to treat that as well so we're trying to check out all possibilities for causes for her delays.
The sermon Sunday was on doubting. Jeff and I are often filled with doubts of why God would bless us with a baby after losing two and then have her develop behind schedule. Will she ever get past these delays? What is God's purpose and what is he trying to teach us? Yet, despite our doubts and questioning God, we love her so deeply and are by her side every step of this journey. We are encouraged by her progress and her determination to focus on one thing at a time. We covet your prayers and ask that you continue to lift Siahna up.
