Viva Las Vegas...not
Jeff and I spent this last weekend in Vegas. Although I had a blast, I really have no desire to go back. It really is a very corrupt town.
We stayed at Circus Circus which is one of the oldest casinos still left.
Our first day we walked and walked for miles. We did some shopping - visited the M&M store and then went to my favorite - the Coca Cola store. While there we sampled 16 Coke drinks from other countries. One was very bitter that Jeff could not stand. I didn't think it was too bad. It was from Italy.
I liked them all.
Here is a pic of New York New York.
Our second night there we took a helicopter ride over downtown Vegas. I will upload some video at a later time. That was the highlight of the trip. I'd never been in a heli and it's truly an amazing experience.Jeff won around $250 playing Texas Hold 'Em while I lost about $50 in the nickel slots. It truly is addictive. I just couldn't stop. :)
Now we are home and I'm off work today with a sick child. His poor aunt & uncle had to take care of him all weekend.Wednesday, October 22, 2008

HELP!!!!
My day off today was quite eventful. I got to "sleep in" until 6:15 this morning. That was pretty exciting. Case and I then took off for Lowe's to take care of a credit card problem that was 4 months old. Got that solved and then took Case to daycare for the day. I then came home and did touch-up paint work in the living room & kitchen. We had a lot of white spots from moving and scratching the paint. After starting with the wrong color, I finally figured out which bucket in the garage was the correct shade of green. I then had to stir and stir because the paint wasn't mixed anymore and I didn't want to go back to Lowe's again to have them shake it up (they had already shaken one bucket that morning that was the wrong color). After two hours of painting, I quickly showered and headed to David's Bridal to try on bridesmaids dresses for my friend Mindy's wedding.
This is the good part, so don't stop reading. I picked out 3 dresses that I really liked and the lady took me back to the dressing rooms and then disappeared. I tried on the first dress and really liked it but wanted to also try on the other two just to be sure. The second dress went on over my head, I zipped it, looked in the mirror and thought it was cute but didn't like it as much as the first. So, I went back into the dressing room, pulled the dress up over my head and started to tug to get it off. It wouldn't budge. It didn't zip down low enough to take it off over my hips. I tried again to get it off over my head and it was stuck around my upper body. I literally tried for over 10 minutes to get it off. I was almost to the point of going to get someone to help me - but that would have been even more embarrassing to ask someone because I had no bra on. What kind of idiot would I have looked like if I walked out and told them I couldn't get the dress off? I was sweating, getting deodorant all over the black dress and thought that I would just have to buy it and wear it out of the store. I'm not kidding - 15 minutes later (I'm sure they would have been wondering what I was doing in there all this time if they would have been paying attention to me) I somehow managed to get the dress to budge and pulled it over my head. By that time, my hair was full of static electricity, I was sweating, and the black dress had white streaks all over it from deodorant. I quickly hung it up behind the two other dresses and decided I would never buy that dress even if I liked it the most because I would never be able to get it off again. I then left the store without talking to anyone - but no one even noticed!

Third Day
Last night, Jeff & I went to see my favorite band, Third Day. Jeff surprised me with the tickets about a month ago and I've been patiently awaiting the day. Jars of Clay & Switchfoot opened for them. I have to say, I'm no longer a fan of Jars of Clay. Nothing tops their first CD.BTW - did you notice my new hair color? Decided it was time to go darker for winter.
After waiting about 2 1/2 hours, Third Day finally came on stage.
We had ground level seats and were fairly close to the stage. It was a great concert. It was their last show for this tour. So, for the finale, all the bands and members came out and sang their version of "I'll Fly Away." The first guy that you'll hear sing is the lead singer from Jars of Clay.Friday, October 10, 2008
Life Insurance
It's now official - I am worth more dead than alive. Jeff and I bought life insurance last night so if I mysterially show up dead or missing, you'll know that Jeff is out for my money! Next thing on our list is to write a will. So depressing. I guess we need to decide who would watch Case if something happened to us. Any ideas???
Boys!
This is my first year teaching accelerated math at my current school. While I really enjoy it (the kids actually do their homework and ask questions) it's also a very challenging class. It's a loud class, they like to talk, they have a million "what if" questions, etc. Well, one day recently, I was right in the middle of teaching a new concept. A boy raises his hand and I call on him thinking he had an answer or a question to what I was teaching. He says, "Mrs. Anderson, are pedicures for feet and manicures for hands?" Totally out of the blue. I said, "Yep, you're right." He said he was just wondering! I guess I know where his mind was during my teaching!
