Never Go Back

Many, many years ago, my dad found this recipe for syrup and we've never gone back to store bought. I thought I'd share it with you in the hopes that you'll try it and never go back to store bought.

1 C. dark corn syrup
1 C. sugar
1 t. salt
2 T. butter
1/2 C. evaporated milk
1 t. vanilla
1/2 t. almond flavoring
cinnamon

Combine first five ingredients. Cook over medium heat. Stir constantly. Don't boil. Simmer. Remove from heat and add vanilla, almond & cinnamon.

Store in refrigerator. Heat a small portion each time you need syrup and enjoy!

  1. I never thought of making my own syrup. It sounds great, I think I will give it a try. I make my own ranch dressing now and it's hard for me to eat store bought.

  2. Sounds great- I make my own with water and brown sugar (my grandma does this too) but yours sounds thicker and yummier!
