Great compassion

I had a parent of one of my students email me over the weekend. Their son is new to our school and does not have good social skills - therefore, he has not made a lot of friends. He's always about 3 steps behind in class and doesn't seem to grasp things unless you can go through things verbally, step-by-step with him. So, his mother emails me and says, "We can't figure out why _____ can't get it together and just do his work. His father and I had perfect GPA's in high school and don't understand why he struggles." At that point, I had great compassion for this kid.

As a parent, it reminded me that no matter what, I will always be proud of Case. He may have talents in places that I don't, but it's my responsibility to help him find those talents and succeed in those areas.

  1. Great thought! Parents can easily forget to remain supportive and encouraging, especially if their children excel in areas they didn't expect or struggle with things they can't relate to.
