In 10 years of teaching, I've never written every single student in my class a letter of appreciation. This year, I'm changing that. I've been thinking about doing it because Shiloh said she did it when she was student teaching and it really meant something to some of those kids who don't always hear something positive. So, I've been thinking that I need to do that because I really like this group of kids and have a lot of positive things to say about them.
This afternoon at our staff meeting, we were instructed that we're starting a "Pay It Forward" campaign the last 2 weeks of school. We are to give each student in our Core Plus (homeroom) a bracelet (like the LiveStrong bracelets) that says "Who I Am Makes a Difference." Then we are to give them 2 more bracelets that they are to pass along to someone else in their life (outside of school) who has made a difference in their life. I thought, what better time to write them all a note to include with their bracelet. I will be passing them out on Friday morning and can't wait. I've been working on their letters (short paragraphs) all evening.
They will love it! It takes a lot of time and work, but it will be worth it in the end. :)
