Back To Work

I really shouldn't complain after having almost 3 months off, but I did not enjoy going back to work today. I had a great summer staying home with Case and wish I could just quit my job and be his mommy full-time. He's had a rough time going to daycare this week and already has a big bump on his forehead from falling over. Poor guy. He cried this morning when I dropped him off but I did feel good when he didn't want to leave this afternoon. Of course, he was playing outside and that's his favorite thing to do. He is definitely all boy! Now I have to decide if he should spend a week at grandma Sally's or if it'll make it even harder to transition to daycare again. He loves his mommy, that's for sure.

Anyway, I'm back at work. I actually enjoy the time before students...the computer work, redecorating the class, making copies. Maybe I should have been a secretary! But, no matter how much I get done at home during the summer, I'm always running around the first few days with a list a mile long. I found out a week ago that I'm teaching an advanced math class this year. Surprise! Hope I'm ready. And I'm also co-teaching a Special Ed class with a guy that I've never met. What a year this will be. So, all in all, I have 3 different classes to prepare for plus homeroom. And I thought it would just be another boring year. :)

Today was a work day in the classroom which is nice. However, I spent about an hour figuring out where to put my computer (gotta change it up this year) and then putting it back together in working order (which I did without the help of my computer genious husband) only to have the computer teacher bring me a brand new flat screen computer about 20 min. after I had it all put together. What a waste of time. But, I won't complain about the new computer. So, there went most of my morning. The rest of the day was spent making copies, making lists of things to do and putting up a number line around half of the ceiling. It takes quite awhile to make little loops of tape!

But, I'm back in the groove and ready to meet this years batch of "our future generation."

  1. Have any good ideas for a bulletin board for short stories? I need to come up with something this weekend so I can put it together Monday...Anything helps. Unless, of course, it's math related...

  2. That is a really cute pic of you & Case. I hope you get it framed for your desk at school!
